Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to track down the criminals who killed blogger Ibrahim Tusubira alias Isma Ichuli on Saturday near his house in Kyanja, Kampala.

In a statement issued on Monday, Uganda's President referred to Tusubira's killers as "pigs," saying, "It is pigs that believe in using guns against unarmed opponents."

Museveni said that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), which the blogger ardently supported, enjoyed using counter-arguments to defeat unarmed opponents.


"Killing critics demonstrates that your position is incorrect and that you cannot out-argue an opponent." Why murder him if he is incorrect, and you are correct? Killers have deceptive minds. They are assuming false postures. In any case, I can guarantee Ugandans that this criminal will be apprehended and prosecuted," the President stated.

Museveni vowed to stand with his relatives and prosecute the killer while offering condolences to the family through the State House Comptroller.

According to preliminary information from Ugandan police, an unidentified gunman wielding an SMG rifle they opened fire on the vehicle where the blogger was a passenger.


The deceased served as the chairman of the Uganda Bloggers Association.
