Kirinyaga County law enforcement has detained over 800 persons as the region continues its fight against drug misuse and illegal alcohol consumption.

County Commissioner Naiyoma Tobiko stated in Kerugoya on Thursday that the multi-agency operation resulted in the confiscation of almost 1,500 litres of illicit alcohol and around 800 litres of second-generation alcohol.

"This operation is still ongoing throughout the county." We've been focusing on narcotics like bhang and illegal beers. Tobiko told the media, "We decided to do this because of the well-documented harm that drug abuse is causing in our region."

"We seized 1500 litres of illegal alcohol and approximately 800 litres of second-generation alcohol." We have also apprehended approximately 800 people, but the operation is still underway."

He went on to say that National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) under his direction had been given stern orders to crack down on anyone participating in the illegal drug trade, notably makers, distributors, and sellers.

"I am in constant communication with my deputy county commissioners, who are briefing me on the progress of the operation in their respective sub-counties," he explained.

Tobiko also stated that the Kirinyaga County administration will not back down in its fight against narcotics and illegal alcohol.

"It is everyone's duty to fight this threat for the greater good of our society," he stated.
