Police have initiated a search for two suspects in a robbery with violence who escaped from the Kakamega police station.

According to the duty officer, Denis Indeche, 26, and Allan Kemoli, 29, she fled from the station's cells under mysterious circumstances Thursday morning.

Two police officers on duty when the couple escaped, have been taken into prison to assist with continuing investigations.

After being on the run for weeks, Indeche was apprehended three days ago by investigators from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau.


He is wanted for several armed robberies in Kenya's western region, including the attack on a senior DCI officer headquartered in Kakamega, who narrowly missed death after receiving life-threatening injuries.
