In Nyeri, police detained two male suspects possessing 52 kgs of elephant ivory on Tuesday.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), tusks worth Ksh.5.3 million were recovered with Kenya Wildlife Service's (KWS) assistance.

Gichohi, 45, and Wahome, 50, will be prosecuted in court on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, for possessing a wildlife trophy violating Section 93(4) of the Wildlife Management And Conservation Act 2013.


Last Monday, authorities in Laikipia County apprehended a guy possessing 110 kg of elephant tusks.

Alfred Gathecha, the culprit, was captured after the car he was using to transport the tusks was detained by police in the Sipili district of Kirima Sub-County.
