Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary in charge of internal security and interior coordination, has ordered that all police officers at the Isebania Police Station be transferred immediately.

Kindiki, who was on a fact-finding expedition in Isebania after insecurity events and a standoff between police officers and citizens, indicated that calm in the region could only be restored if fresh officers were assigned to take over.

The CS, accompanied by a team of security officials from the Nyanza area, voiced alarm about the increasing number of incidences of unrest around the nation, alleging that members of the public prefer mob justice even when it is not warranted.

Prof.Kindiki claimed that he would not stand by and let the country fall into anarchy and would do what he could defend Kenyans' lives.

He also asked police officers stationed at the Kenya-Sirare border to crack down on contraband and illegal products entering the country.

At the same event, Migori county deputy governor Joseph Mahiri asked the authorities to consider deploying special unit officers to the border town to beef up security.

According to Mahiri, criminal elements use security weaknesses in the security system to launch assaults.
