After being assaulted at her business place by Kenya Power Director Veska Kangogo a week ago, a woman in Sabaki, Machakos County, is calling for justice.

According to Beth Njeri, Kangogo barged into her workplace and demanded her son's phone, which had been impounded after he failed to pay a Ksh—1,000 beer charge.

Kangogo is seen forcing a server into a wines and spirits store in CCTV footage taken on June 19 at Maybach Zone in Sabaki along Mombasa Road. They are then shown departing shortly after and going to the owner's office, where she sits and watches the company.

Kangogo grabs Njeri and smacks her on the head with the stick as she clings to the door.

As another group rushes to the office to aid an injured Njeri, those nearby are seen grabbing the stick from her. Kangogo follows a security guard who will check on his boss; when the guy turns around, the two are seen fighting. The scenario went on for roughly ten minutes.

We went back to the incident site a week later. Njeri greets us, wearing a bandage over her head. She explains a dispute between her employee and Kangogo's son, who was ordered to leave his phone behind after failing to pay a Ksh. 1,000 bill at their wines and spirits shop was the cause of the altercation.

"Shida yake ilikuwa anasema kijana yake ameuziwa pombe na ati amenyanganywa simu na huyo kijana hakunyanganywa simu yeye mwenyewe aliwekelea simu in exchange of pombe ndio akipata doh alete ndio apewe simu yake ..," adds Njeri.

Kangogo, who Citizen TV interviewed over the phone, claimed that she had visited the location after her son reported that his phone had been taken there and that she had also reported the incident to the police.

Mary Njoki, the commander of the Athi River Sub-County Police, acknowledged receiving the allegations from the two and stated that investigators are currently looking into the situation.
