While on vacation in St. Ann, Jamaica, a 53-year-old British national lost his life after going on a reasonably terrible drinking binge after attempting to consume 21 cocktails off a bar's menu.

According to accounts, Timothy Southern ran into two Canadian women who were reportedly trying to finish the dinner, as mentioned earlier in one sitting as part of birthday celebrations at the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean.

Unknown how the two persuaded Southern, a native of Lichfield, to take part in the challenge, the dead reportedly drank 12 cocktails before retiring to his hotel room for the evening, according to the New York Post.

In addition, brandy and beer were purportedly consumed by him before the 21-cocktail challenge.

His relatives at the resort claim that things started to go south after Southern called it a night.

"He was choking on his back. I positioned him for recovery and yelled, "Ambulance!" He was grunting while doing this. He started to throw up as soon as he was in the recovery posture. The New York Post quotes one of Southern's kin as saying, "I was calling his name but getting no reaction.

"I asked the nurse when she got here whether an ambulance had been called, and she replied, 'No.' I believed she would take charge. That, however, was not the case. I observed that his temperature was beginning to drop. When I looked for his pulse, I couldn't," the relative stated.

His relatives, who have criticized the resort for being unprepared and unequipped to manage such a situation, claim that Southern did not survive to see the following day.

The bereaved family of Southern remarked, "The service and treatment he received was disgusting."

The deceased's post-mortem examination later indicated he had "acute gastroenteritis due to alcohol consumption."
