A 25-year-old guy is being detained by police in Bomet after he is accused of killing his neighbour with a hacksaw and stealing Ksh—1,800 from him.

The suspect, Amos Cheruiyot, allegedly sneaked into the home where the 36-year-old was being entertained by a friend on Monday night, according to Sugurmega location chief Richard Byegon. He then used a Panga to chop him to death.

According to Byegon, the dead and the suspect were well-known acquaintances travelling and visiting each other's families before the terrible incident.

Police reported that while being transported to Longisa County Referral Hospital, where the body has since been kept, the victim died of severe cuts to the head, hands, and legs.

The culprit was detained by members of the public, who then frog-matched him to the police station.

The murder weapon had been located, according to Phanton Analo, chief of the Chepalungu sub-county police.
