The primary suspect in the horrifying death of Eric Maigo, the interim financial director of Nairobi Hospital, has claimed that she stabbed him out of self-defense.
According to sources with direct knowledge of the investigations, the suspect, who is thought to be a minor, claimed to have been raped.
She allegedly informed officers that Maigo had picked her up by the side of the road after chasing her away from her home because of a conflict with her guardian.
She told the authorities that after the dead sexually molested her, she attacked him. Police will return to the location for more investigation.
While driving home, the deceased allegedly bought the child juice and chips.

She added that she thought her drink had been tainted and that she had woken up naked.
She then became angry and carried out many fatal stabbings because she believed the man had sex with her without her permission.
She claimed that she only recalls stabbing him three times.
On Tuesday night, the teenage girl was detained in Kibra's Olympic neighborhood.
To undertake their investigation, Milimani court on Wednesday gave police permission to detain the main suspect in the killing of Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo for 21 days.
The boy was apprehended in Kibera by police from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who had been hunting him down since September 15.

According to a police officer on the investigation team, he still has to record testimonies from the critical witnesses, collect fingerprints, create a photo profile of the witness, find out about her prior criminal history, take the respondent's DNA for examination by a government chemist, and find and detain respondent accomplices.
The officer stated that he must also accompany the girl for a mental/age assessment and take her for a medical checkup to determine whether she had any wounds while fleeing the crime site.
On September 15, Maigo's lifeless body was discovered in a bloody pool.
Since then, authorities have established that he was stabbed 25 times. From the crime site, two bloody knives that were allegedly used in the murder were found.
