A medical officer, 35, committed suicide on Thursday in Rongo, Migori County, allegedly due to family disputes.

The body of the deceased, Fredrick Owuor, was discovered hanging from a rope in his mother's home in the Kabuoro Sub-location.

Area Assistant Chief Johannes Ooko Malela verified the occurrence but said that the cause of the medical officer's suicide was unknown.

 Unconfirmed rumors suggested that he and his wife had marital problems.

The incident is currently being investigated by police, according to the area assistant chief.

The deceased's body was transferred to Rosewood Hospital's mortuary for an autopsy and police inquiries.

While this is happening, some provincial administrators in Migori County have expressed alarm over the county's soaring suicide rate and urged the populace to seek out alternative methods of resolving disputes.

According to police data, there have been more than two suicide instances reported in Migori County over the past week.
