Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have seized methamphetamine worth Kes 9 million at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Speaking on X, formerly Twitter,  DCI says more than one kilogram of consignment was concealed inside bicycle saddles and was bound for Jakarta, Indonesia.

DCI deployed detectives at JKIA to handle immigration crime, and suspicious cargo flagged the consignment.

Brown parcels containing a white crystalline material were hidden in eleven saddles during a verification exercise.

The drug tested positive for methamphetamine when it was tested. "Interpol operations have since been launched to identify the faces behind the illicit trade for arrest and prosecution," the cops said.

The most recent incidence occurs as the nation's fight against the abuse and trafficking of drugs and psychoactive substances has intensified.

In the meantime, the DCI issued a warning, stating that regardless of the criminals' status within the nation, Kenya continues to be a hostile environment.
