Nigerian music sensation Rema has decided to cancel all his scheduled shows in December in order to prioritize his health.
In an Instagram story post, the Afrobeats star acknowledged that he had overlooked his well-being due to consistent touring. Despite having planned performances across Nigeria and in South Africa for the remainder of the year, he expressed the need to take a break and focus on recuperation.
“Breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December. Been years of touring I’ve ignored my health and I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again love,” he said.
The music star has experienced a series of successes this year, notably with the widely acclaimed song "Calm Down," a collaboration with Selena Gomez. The track has achieved significant milestones, breaking numerous streaming and chart records.
Notably, "Calm Down" has been recognized as the most Shazammed song globally in 2023 and recently earned the title of Best Afrobeats Song at the Billboard Music Awards.

In response to Rema's decision to cancel his shows, fellow Nigerian star Davido has lauded his achievements.
“The job isn’t easy physically and mentally! You’ve done Africa and the world proud beyond expectations. Get some rest king [and] come back stronger,” he said.
