Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu recently posted a photo on her social media account in a local pub, where she posed alongside a fan.
The senator emphasized that she was on patrol, highlighting the significance of ending it to prevent the formation of party zombie's connected to Aluta sundays..
"Niko patrol. Sasa aka na vile ni kadogo ati ni mbogi ya aluta. Aki kanairo mutajua mujui. We will not create party zombies!" she asserted.
This follows closely on the heels of the senator's threat to end the overnight trend among youths.
Karen Nyamu contends that the ongoing overnight program extending from Saturday night to Sunday purportedly hurts many young individuals.
"Kuna kitu inaharibu vijana hapa Nairobi inaitwa Aluta. Hio fom mi ndio nitaichoma. Club owners this is your notice," she noted.
In her effort to curb the influence of late-night partying, Nyamu presented a motion in parliament, urging the prohibition of Aluta in all nightclubs in Nairobi.
Inspired by the tragic death of a friend during their college years, Nyamu argued that Kenya should adopt the partying culture of developed countries, where nightclubs usually close by 2:00 a.m.
During her presentation, Nyamu outlined five key issues for the committee to address in their statement.
She inquired about any government initiatives to address the rise of uncontrolled partying and clubbing beyond recommended hours.
Nyamu also requested detailed information on licensed bars and pubs, seeking a comprehensive explanation of whether these establishments pose risks to their surrounding areas.
Endorsing the motion, nominated senator Gloria Orwoba underscored the significance of regulations, emphasizing that parents play a crucial role in guiding their children away from alcoholism and substance abuse.
"While I support the regulation of nightclubs and the sale of alcohol, I call upon all parents to stop outsourcing 'parenting' and do their job. It all comes down to choices and your children's choices will be influenced by your parenting or lack of the same," Orwoba stated.
