Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has denied abandoning struggling boxing star Conjestina Achieng' saying he tried his best to help rehabilitate her.
Sonko shared call chats with Conjestina's family on his social media profiles, revealing how she quit his team due to a misunderstanding.
According to Sonko, his efforts to assist in the rehabilitation of the former boxing champion were hampered by Conjestina's own family.

"Kenyans, I did my best to help Conjee, but her family watered down my efforts. Fortunately, my heart is bigger than myself. At times, I fail to control it for the love I have for the people, especially the less fortunate, and I think this is the reason I initially gave Conjee the first, second, and now may be I will be forced to give a third and final chance again coz I'm always serious with all the cases we undertake and since we always document and account for the progress of all our sensitive cases" he posted
"The first 5:24 mins recording obtained from a mobile phone provider's server was on 2nd October 2023 at 15:54 pm between myself and Conjee's son Charlton, who's my very good buddy whom I respect alot. The second 21:25 mins audio was downloaded from a mobile's phone provider server on 18th December 2023 at 11:26 a.m." he added.

Sonko's clarification came days after media personality and sports guru Carol Radull updated Kenyans on the former boxer's present status, saying she had returned to the "same lifestyle."
Radull further stated that, despite overwhelming help and support from many sources, successfully rehabilitating Conjestina had proven tough.
