Official Kinuthia is one of the six Kenyan social media stars nominated for the 2023 TikTok Creator Awards, which will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 9, 2024.

Dennis Ombachi a.ka the Roaming Chef, is a former rugby player who became famous on TikTok. He was named the Top Creator 2022 overall winner.

Last year, Anyiko Owoko, a former TV presenter and PR pro, hosted the awards at a vibrant ceremony at the Mövenpick Hotel and Residences in Nairobi.


Ombachi is anticipated to present an award at the ceremony's second iteration in South Africa.

In December 2023, TikTok fans were asked to vote for their favorite creators. A TikTok judging panel and the general public selected the winners, with one winner emerging from each category.

Head of Content Operations for TikTok in Sub-Saharan Africa Bianca Sibiya stated: "TikTok connects people globally and champions creativity. With the help of our platform, anyone can pursue a career in creating and sharing their stories. The purpose of these awards is to encourage, mentor, and equip the upcoming generation of talent to represent Africa globally."

In the 'Trailblazer of the Year in Sub-Saharan Africa' category, Official Kinuthia is up against Nigerian 'Olaoflagos_.'
