Kenyans have trolled Chemaner Ward MCA Richard Ruttoh Kigaru after he donated a new Probox transformed into an ambulance, which he donated to his constituents.
According to a video provided by an X user, tens of neighborhood residents are seen dancing and jubilating as the unorthodox ambulance is driven into what looks to be a health facility, with ladies singing and ululating.
The probox, converted into an ambulance, appears to have been outfitted with ambulance-specific features, such as a siren and seats modified to contain a stretcher and beds.
It is unclear whether the unusual ambulance has also been outfitted with the numerous additional gear required for such critical medical journeys.
The 'ambulance' is also painted in white, blue, green, and red, with a red cross, which represents hospitals, painted on the hood.
It reads: "Chemaner Health Centre. Rescue Van."
While some Kenyans applauded the MCA's kind deed, others chastised him for trivializing a severe health problem, claiming that a patient's condition may deteriorate just by being driven around in a Probox transformed into an ambulance.
User Karen Mukami said, "We play too much as a country. How's this a practical vehicle to help save lives? How does a medic perform life-saving procedures in this car while moving? Why is everything in this country a joke to these so-called leaders!? We are never beating the allegations!"
"If you know Kenyan villages, you know how people move around. The roads are rugged and poor. In fact, people use motorbikes to rush to the hospital. This is an absolutely fine alternative. It's tailor-made for the village terrain," someone defended the MCA.
