The $567 million box office hit Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning finds new life on Netflix's global chart. The seventh installment in the action franchise, co-written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie once again, pits Tom Cruise's IMF Agent Ethan Hunt and his team of operatives against a formidable rogue AI known as the Entity.

The cast of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning features newcomers Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, and Pom Klementieff in addition to franchise mainstays Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby.

Almost a year after its debut, the most recent Mission: Impossible film has resurfaced on Netflix. With 5.6 million views and 15.3 million hours viewed, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning came in third place on Netflix's Global Top 10 chart for the most recent week of June 10–16. It was their second week in the Top 10, ranking lower than Four Brothers in second and Hit Man in first.

Dead Reckoning, also known as Part One, has a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score, which is only slightly less than Fallout's 97%, making it one of the best Mission: Impossible films. Reviews for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning laud the film for its elaborate set pieces and high-stakes scenes, making it one of the best action films of 2023 and a must-see entry in the franchise.

The simultaneous release of Barbie and Oppenheimer the following weekend on July 21 caused Dead Reckoning to underperform at the box office despite receiving overwhelming critical acclaim.

As evidenced by its 94% audience score and 5,000+ verified ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences who saw Dead Reckoning held it in the same high regard as critics.

Additionally, it brought in over $567 million at the box office, a noteworthy sum that qualified it as the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2023. Dead Reckoning was the 15th most expensive movie ever made, with a budget of $291 million, which is why its box office performance was viewed as a letdown.

The international production of a Mission Impossible film is always expensive, and Dead Reckoning was made during the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in multiple delays and further increased costs. Dead Reckoning needed to make between $582 and $727 million in order to turn a profit on a $291 million budget.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning did not do well at the box office due to Barbenheimer's influence and the film's large budget, but it has partially made up for it on Netflix, where it has become a global hit.
