Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar is set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9 in New Orleans.

Lamar, 37, hails from Compton, the epicenter of Los Angeles' rap culture. With 17 Grammy wins under his belt, he previously performed during the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show alongside icons Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige.

“Rap music remains the most influential genre today, and I’m here to remind the world why. They picked the right one,” Lamar stated in a press release.

Since his breakthrough 2012 album *Good Kid, m. A.D. City*, Lamar has risen to superstardom. His 2017 album *DAMN.* earned him the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, making him the first artist outside the classical and jazz genres to win the award.

Last season, Grammy-winning artist Usher took the Super Bowl halftime stage, a performance slot considered one of the most high-profile in the U.S. music industry. Legendary acts like The Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Bruce Springsteen have all graced the Super Bowl stage in past years.

This year, Lamar’s return promises another unforgettable performance in one of the most significant music events of the year.
