According to a law enforcement source speaking to Waza, Diddy's arrest was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but something prompted federal agents to move in a day early.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams later confirmed that Diddy’s arrest was based on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York. On Monday night, federal agents from Homeland Security apprehended the music mogul at a midtown hotel where he was staying, with reports suggesting that his room may have been searched. Diddy was then taken into custody at the FBI Field Office in Manhattan.
The arrest is linked to an ongoing criminal investigation involving allegations of sex trafficking and other charges, which had previously led to search warrants being executed at his properties in Beverly Hills and Miami. Over the past few months, a grand jury has been hearing testimony from multiple accusers related to the case.

Diddy's attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment over the arrest, calling the prosecution unjust. He emphasized that Diddy is a music icon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building a successful career while supporting his family and the Black community. "He is an imperfect person but not a criminal," Agnifilo said, adding that Diddy has been fully cooperative with the investigation, even relocating to New York in anticipation of the charges.
