The funeral of well-known Super Metro tout Gerald Mwangi Njoroge, affectionately called 'Makanga Bae,' descended into chaos when his family accused some of his friends of showing disrespect and mismanaging funeral funds. The service, held on Wednesday, October 23, at Mwangi's family home, quickly turned into a shouting match as family members clashed with friends, despite attempts by the master of ceremonies to restore calm.
At one point, a family member rose to address the crowd, directly accusing the friends of dishonoring Mwangi and claiming that their actions had turned the ceremony into an embarrassing event. "These people have wronged us as a family. We didn’t want to bury our brother in this way. The way Gerald is being treated is not right," the female relative lamented.
The family expressed that the funeral should have been a grand farewell befitting Gerald’s memory, but they felt a group of his friends had made it a chaotic affair. Gerald's mother also spoke, echoing her family's grievances and asserting that some friends had disrespected her son. She specifically called out three friends—Muturi, Kajuju, and Teddy—for allegedly misappropriating funeral funds and making false promises to the family.

Fighting back tears, she shared, "I haven’t been able to sleep, but it’s okay. I received Ksh. 63,000 from Super Metro, which I used for funeral necessities... Muturi promised to buy a coffin worth Ksh. 50,000 and said he would handle food for Ksh. 85,000. As you can see, there is neither food nor water today." She added, "What a shame! You’ve been publicizing us online. All this trouble comes from Muturi, Kajuju, and Teddy. I've left you in God’s hands."
Tensions escalated further when it was revealed that Gerald’s mother had contemplated suicide due to the emotional toll of the internal conflicts surrounding the funeral. The MC attempted to reprimand Muturi and his associates, but his remarks were quickly drowned out by chants of disapproval from the crowd. Sensing the rising tension, he shifted gears and encouraged mourners to join in a worship chorus.
Despite the ongoing discord, Gerald was eventually laid to rest, though emotions remained high, with many mourners feeling aggrieved. Gerald, known for his charming looks and stylish demeanor, tragically passed away on the night of Thursday, October 10, after suffering injuries in a freak road accident.
