Renowned Ugandan performer Jose Chameleon has publicly expressed regret for an incident at his most awaited performance in Uganda over the weekend.

People were shocked when Chameleon kissed a fellow artist named Weasel on stage. The act gave mixed reactions since Jose Chameleon has not been known to be gay throughout the years.

In a statement, Chameleon gave his sincere apologies to the general public. The musician said that he and Weasel are brothers and family men and were just caught up in the heat of the moment. He acknowledged that they were both African men who respected African values and morals and regretted the act. Chameleon said that should not have happened and will never happen again.

He also went ahead to apologize on behalf of the Mayanja family. This occurred just days after Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, president of Uganda, passed a measure making homosexuality a crime subject to life in prison into law.

Fans were astonished when the veteran singer and a fellow male, Weasel, locked lips on stage. The two performed this stunt on stage for the second time, confusing their fans more. They repeated the action while performing in 2022.

Only a week ago, Jose Chameleon was seen dancing erratically in another video that went viral.

Netizens wasted no time in labeling the video as offensive. Many people claimed that Chameleon was either an LGBTQ person or had been paid to support the LGBTQ cause in Uganda.

There is nothing unusual about Chameleon becoming the topic of discussion. He received criticism recently when a video of him striking a bodaboda man went viral online. Yet he showed no remorse, insisting that the bodaboda man was to blame for hitting his car.

Also, the artist has drawn criticism for supporting Museveni's government, which many feel is persecuting Ugandans.

At the recent birthday celebration for Museveni's son General Muhoozi, a guy who appeared irritated and bitter yelled out at his supporters and everyone else who continued criticizing him for supporting the government. The artist had much to say, and his rant lasted quite a few minutes.

"I'm here to sing because of my friend Toyota. You all remember he gave me a Range Rover. Some of you were not happy. But I don't care. I am here to sing because of Muhoozi. I make my choices. Some of you want to make decisions for me. I won't accept that." The Vala Vala hitmaker addressed.
