Alikiba, the award-winning superstar, will headline the upcoming Safari Centre Rally Festival, which will serve as the culmination of this year's World Rally Championship in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

Aside from Alikiba, who will play on Friday, June 23, the event will feature many local performers from various genres, with spectators guaranteed an unforgettable experience.

Mugithi will perform on June 24, while Sol Generation performers will perform on June 25.

The three-day fun event, scheduled for June 22-25, is organized by Safari Centre, a travel convenience mall along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, in collaboration with Eagle One Consultancies LTD.

The mall, which will also be celebrating its first anniversary, has become a popular rest stop for vehicles along the route. It will serve as a rest stop for thousands of rally enthusiasts attending the worldwide event beginning on June 22.

According to Safari Centre Property Manager Derrick Ngokonyo, the centre will use its vast 15 acres to provide fun and game items for youngsters and sleeping tents, offering participants a home-away-from-home experience.

"Naivasha Safari Centre is home to several household brands such as Naivas Supermarket, Dr.Mattress, Pharmaplus, Shell, curio shops, Artcaffe, and Simbisa Brands, assuring families of a wholesome shopping experience." Tents will be available for anyone who like to sleep on-site. Visitors can also take a break and find respite in our premium Loo4U restroom facilities, which feature spotless bathrooms and hot showers for people of all genders and ages. ''All EV car owners have access to electric vehicle charging facilities,'' Ngokonyo added.

According to Eagle One Consultancies LTD CEO Michael Njenga, the festival will add flair to the World Rally Championship, moving away from typical speed thrills and bringing peace amongst age groups.

"The demonstration is no longer just for the elderly. Young people have embraced sport and music, a worldwide language, and will not only bridge the gap but also add flavour to the global event,'' said Njenga.

The festival is projected to draw close to 15,000 people and will provide casual jobs to between 150 and 200 locals.

The Safari Rally began in 1953 as the East African Coronation Safari in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's coronation.

It was renamed the East African Safari Rally in 1960 and remained that way until 1974 when it was renamed the Kenya Safari Rally. It then evolved into the current World Rugby Council.

Along with the 1,000 Lakes of Finland and Monte Carlo, the Safari Rally is currently the most popular event on the WRC schedule.

This year's rally promises to be a pure slugfest between Finland's Kalle Rovanpera and Ogier, the 2021 winner and current WRC leader.

Both winners of the past two races will drive Toyota GR. Kenya was awarded the right to host the championship for the next five years till 2026.
