Sanapei Tande, a soulful chanteuse and performer, has counselled women to ensure they have their finances before getting married.

The 38-year-old, who has previously stated that she is not in a rush to settle down, thinks most women make mistakes when rashly rush into marriage without having anything of their own, ending up on the outside looking in when the union fails.

"Getting a job is crucial. Keep working if you have a job that pays well. We've seen relationships end, and people cannot care for themselves. Even though your spouse wants to take care of you, you need to have something of your own since you never know what tomorrow will bring, Sanapei remarked.

In a previous interview, Sanapei stated that while she would like to be married in the future, it is not her ultimate objective.

"People tell me about marriage, such as you need to get married because you're elderly. I find that sad because I have to wonder whether that is the only objective, she remarked.

The singer-turned-actress added that getting married does not guarantee success in life.

"(To those who think so) You are still living in that era where if you are not married then you are not successful – that is very sad, it's a lot to deal with for someone viewing it like that," she said.

Regardless, Sanapei said she would love to have her children if she gets married.

"I'd like to be a mother of two. If they come as twins, I am done," she added.
