United States singer Beyonce's mother and fashion designer Tina Knowles has filed for divorce from her actor Richard Lawson after eight years.
Multiple US media sites got court records showing that Knowles-Lawson, 69, filed for divorce on Wednesday under the grounds of irreconcilable differences, with their separation date indicated as the previous Tuesday.
The successful fashion designer and part-time'momager' has now requested the court to stop Lawson, 76, from receiving spousal support, and she also wants her name changed back to Celestine Knowles.
The former couple married on April 12, 2015, aboard a luxurious yacht in Newport Beach, California, and had eight mainly happy years of marriage.
Both Knowles and Lawson were getting married for the second time; they started dating in 2013 after ending their first marriages.
In 2009, Tina and Mathew Knowles, the father of Solange Knowles and longtime manager of Beyonce, ended their more than 30-year marriage.
In 2011, their divorce would be finalised.
