Former BBC reporter and actress Makena Njeri has officially changed they name to Chris Muriithi.

Makena took to they social media to announce the name change, thanking Meta for supporting their decision.



"My mood this Friday! In case you didn’t notice, my name on this platform is officially Chris Muriithi. It’s been a long time coming. Thank you, Meta, for being supportive. Means a lot to me!. I am here to express my gratitude to everyone who has intentionally used my official name. I feel seen ❤️Chris." they said

Chris, who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community, has been a fierce supporter of the group and has been advocating for their rights. In a previous interview, Chris revealed that they stopped attending church.

They claimed that they began to feel uncomfortable in the church as soon as they came out as members of the LGBTQ community. Chris criticized the church for mistreating community members and said God did not discriminate.

In an interview with Bien of Sauti Sol, the actor stated that the Ministry of Education should include LGBTQ-related issues in the curriculum to help developing children better understand their sexuality.

"The government should honor its pledge to align Kenya’s legislative and legal environment with international and regional standards on SGBV. We further stress the importance of developing favorable social norms, attitudes, and behaviors at institutional, community, and individual levels to prevent and respond to SGBV."
