Mutahi Ngunyi, former President Uhuru Kenyatta's technical advisor, has exposed techniques used by a faction of the past government to undermine William Ruto's presidential bid.
According to Ngunyi, Uhuru, who had already supported opposition leader Raila Odinga then, was aware of the measures to slow Ruto's pace in courting voters ahead of the 2022 elections.
One of the purported strategies was to fund presidential challenger George Wajackoya's manifesto launch, which was purposefully timed to collide with Kenya Kwanza's manifesto launch.

During an interview on NTV, He revealed that he got a little bit of it from Uhuru Kenyatta's friends, and they funded Wajackoyah's launch and wanted it to happen on the same day that Ruto was doing his launch,
"...We believe Ruto has a choleric temper, so I wanted to do this to irritate him so that when you have half screens on the TVs." He added.
In a reference to the political spat between Uhuru and Ruto, Ngunyi stated that his bank accounts were frozen shortly after confronting Uhuru and seeing the former DP at his Karen house.
This comes on the heels of his defection to President Ruto's Kenya Kwanza camp, citing a change in his views on the president.
Nyunyi emphasised that his defection should not be misinterpreted as support for the Kenya Kwanza government but rather as support for the "idea of the Hustler Nation."
"I believe that after the KK came to power, they abandoned the entire idea and movement of the Hustler Nation that drove them into power. I have come to drive it," he said.
