Mama Ida Odinga, the wife of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has urged Kenyans to encourage local artists to nurture their abilities.
Her remarks follow assertions by some local musicians that Kenyans do not support them by purchasing and listening to their music.
Kenyan artists, according to Ms. Odinga, ought to be supported.
Ohangla star Tom Mboya Angaga, also known as Atommy Sifa, is one of the performers she wants to encourage.
On August 30, 2023, the musician visited Mama Ida in her Nairobi office.

Sifa has been working hard to relaunch his music career after his band was disbanded over a year ago.
He blamed his misfortune on rivalry within the entertainment sector.
"All of my musical instruments were stolen from the restaurant I own in Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County." "I couldn't continue my music career because I didn't have any instruments," Sifa explained in an earlier interview.
He has been reaching out to pals for assistance and new instruments.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who is from Karachuonyo, has endorsed him so far.
Ms Odinga compared the singer to an international rockstar, claiming that he has been in the spotlight for years and that his music is available on several platforms.
She claimed that if Sifa had lived in other nations, he would have been regarded as one of the most valuable musicians.
"Don't treat him like the kid next door." "He is a world-renowned artist," she explained.
Ms Odinga said, "If Atommy were in other countries other than Kenya, he would be holding the positions of artists like the Jacksons."
She urged Kenyans to support the work of local artists.
He was given new drum sets during his visit to Ms Odinga.
As a token of appreciation, the musician stated that he would perform a song to honor the wife of the opposition leader, who requested that the piece be completed by December.
Sifa stated that he is ready to relaunch his music career once he obtains all the necessary qualifications.
He has established a Whatsapp group to generate donations.
Sifa's goal is to raise at least Sh 800,000.
He has since obtained some instruments from friends.
He told Nairobi News that he only needs speakers, a power amplifier, and a mixer.
"I require a total of seven speakers for use in a concert." "Anyone who wants to support me is welcome to do so," Mr Angaga said.
