An Eldoret court sentenced a 71-year-old man to life imprisonment on Monday after he was found guilty of defiling a two-year-old girl.
The court established the crime contrary to Section 8(1) and Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act.
Four witnesses were produced by the prosecution, which was led by Jamlick Muriithi. One of them was a doctor, who said that the youngster had been continuously defiled.
Beyond a reasonable doubt, according to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the prosecution's case was established.
“During the trial presided over by the Principal Magistrate, Honourable Christine Menya, it was revealed that the accused committed this terrible act between May 2021 and June 4, 2022,” ODPP said Monday.
