Denise Gakuru, 29, committed suicide by setting himself on fire in Nairobi's Kasarani neighborhood. The cause of this horrific incident is still unknown.

Gakuru self-immolated on Monday, and his lifeless body was found in his home a few days later.

Police claim that the man intended to kill himself by soaking a piece of cloth in paraffin.

He then doused himself with more paraffin, wrapped the sodden towel around his body, and set it on fire, according to police sources.

When worried neighbors heard about the incident, they hurried to his aid and discovered he was severely burned.

After being taken to the hospital quickly, he sadly died from his wounds.

The reason behind his actions is still unknown, but the police have moved his body to the mortuary at Kenyatta National Hospital while an autopsy is conducted.

This incident is the latest in a troubling string of suicide cases that authorities have been informed about.

Another incident occurred in Subukia, Londiani, where a 51-year-old man hanged himself in his home.

Harrison Theuri's body was discovered hanging on a rope in his home's rafters.

According to the police, the incident's motive is still unknown.

The deceased was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and additional investigation.

Suicide cases, according to police, have increased in response to calls for similar action.

Given that up to two cases are reported daily, police claim that the trend has been concerning and growing.

According to the World Health Organization, these cases are linked to financial hardships, legal issues, academic pressures or failures, unemployment, and death.

Bullying, past suicide attempts, a family history of suicide, alcoholism and drug abuse, depression, and bipolar disorder are additional causes.

The World Health Organization ranks suicide as one of the top 20 causes of death and a severe global public health concern.

Of the 175 countries with the highest suicide rates, Kenya ranks 114.
