The Eldoret High Court has instructed the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to arrange for a mental evaluation of a police officer who is accused of fatally shooting her husband twelve times in a brutal incident. This assessment will serve as the basis for determining whether Lilian Biwott is mentally competent to undergo trial for the murder of her husband.
Following the completion of investigations, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) informed the court that they are prepared to file a murder charge against the officer.
Justice Rosemary Onkoba mandated an investigation into the officer's case and assigned a government lawyer to represent her, as she did not have legal representation of her own.
The police officer, Biwot, a mother of three, is accused of fatally shooting her husband following a domestic altercation two weeks ago in their rented residence on Kimumu Street, located on the outskirts of Eldoret city.
