A 60-year-old man in Kigoro village, Murang'a County, was hacked to death with an axe by a thug who broke into his house and demanded Ksh.12,000 for selling a goat.
Peter Kamau was killed when a thug known as Wagathanwa terrorized his entire family at night, demanding goat sales. The robber also injured Kamau's wife, Jane Waruguru, and two other people.
Family members revealed that Kamau had sold his goat earlier in the day for Ksh.12,000, the same amount the hitman demanded during the night raid.
When the killer stormed the homestead, he met with Naomi Nyambura, who he ordered to hand over the money but refused because she did not have it. He then dragged her to Kamau's bedroom and woke him and his wife up, demanding the goat sales.

During the chaos, he attacked Nyambura with his axe before turning to Kamau and striking him on the head with his weapon, causing him to collapse.
Waruguru begged the robber not to kill her husband, telling him she had the money.
She handed over the money to him, but she was also assaulted and left with head injuries. The assailant also stole two cell phones.
Residents are wondering why security agents in Murang'a County haven't apprehended Wagathanwa, who is known for stealing and breaking into people's homes with an axe and gasoline.
Murang'a County Police Commander Kainga Mathiu said investigations into Kamau's murder have begun and vowed to bring the killer to justice.
