A suspect accused of conspiring to defraud the Kenyan government of 2,398 bags of subsidized fertilizer, each 50kg valued at more than Ksh.7 million, has been released.
Hillary Samoei is believed to have received the fertilizer after falsely claiming to own a 300-acre plot for crop production in Narok County's Olololung'a sub-location.
According to documentation from the Milimani Law Courts, Samoei cheated the government between March 10 and November 21, 2023, along with others who were not present.

After pleading not guilty to the accusations, the accused appeared in court on Tuesday after being detained on December 30, 2023, and was released on Ksh.500,000 cash bail.
