Police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old lady in Bukhalalire, Butula sub-county for impersonating a police officer.
The suspect, Jacinta Merlin Ouma was arrested after a tip-off from the public.
According to police, she was en route to Butula police station dressed in a GSU uniform with an AK47 riffle when she was ambushed and upon questioning it was discovered that she did have proper documentation to serve as a police.
The suspect was arraigned in Busia High Court before magistrate Peter Olengo, where she pleaded guilty to impersonation.
She will be remanded at Bumala police station for 21 days to enable the investing police officer to complete their investigations.

According to KNA, the suspect has been roaming in police stations across the country, including Kabete police station, a number of police stations in Kisumu, and busia posing as a police officer.
“We suspected her while on duty at Bumala police and we had her arrested and we found a lot of pictures in her phone with full GSU uniform and a fire arm but she could not explain herself in which police station she from and we had her arrested for investigation to be done,”said DCIO said.
In her defence before the magistrate Olengo she told the court that she bought the uniform at the industrial area in Nairobi and the firearm was given to her by a police officer while in Kabete police station just to take photos.
“I bought the uniform in industrial area and I just wanted to put on the uniform so that people can know am a police officer and I do not have the gun I was only given by a police officer to take photos,” she said to the judge.
