Two suspected thugs were shot dead by a police officer while two of their accomplices escaped with gunshot wounds after raiding his shop in Ngoingwa village, Thika West sub-county.
According to Thika West Sub County Police Commander Lawrence Muchangi, the two were part of a gang that also robbed the nearby Thika Girls Secondary School Karibaribi on Wednesday and fatally attacked a watchman and left another with serious injuries.
Further, he said that the gangsters had entered the shop by cutting a perimeter barbed wire, removed several goods from the shop and were in the process of packing them into sacks when they were busted.
He said the police officer who lives in one of the apartments near the shop heard some commotion at around 2am and after responding met two gangsters who threatened him with crowbars.
