Police in Ugenya, Siaya County, have initiated an inquiry after the death of a 35-year-old man whose body was discovered in a ditch near Nyanyien village on Tuesday evening.
The body of the man was discovered in a trench in his swampy garden, and he is believed to have drowned.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the Assistant Chief of Nyamsenda sub-location, Michael Nyadenge, reported a suspected drowning event in his region.

He added that an officer from the Sihayi police post arrived at the spot and discovered the body already recovered from the trench.
The county police chief stated that it was determined that the deceased, an epileptic, went to the garden to tend to his arrow roots around 9 a.m. on Tuesday but never returned, leading his mother to launch a search.
She found his body in the swampy garden at 6 p.m.
