Officers from the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) arrested two people during a drug raid in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.
The operation, conducted in coordination with local police officials, resulted in the confiscation of 435 rolls of bhang suspected to have originated in Migori County.
Among those caught is a well-known bhang salesman from the coastal region who is on the list of the most wanted drug dealers. The second suspect is similarly well-known, with links in Kilifi and Malindi.

Several motorcycles were seized during the operation, as they were being used to transport bhang and other illegal substances in the coastal region.
Local locals praised NACADA for taking a position against drug usage and expressed relief that the crackdown will protect school-aged children from the risks of bhang.
The collaboration between NACADA and law enforcement is regarded as critical in combating drug trafficking and misuse in the area.
NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa said that bhang usage in the region had increased by 90%.
