CCTV footage, which was just made public, sheds light on the events leading up to the tragic death of Joan Nzomo,  a lady who fell from  Kasarani apartment's 10th story. The video shows the woman arriving at the short-term rental at 3:00 am on Sunday night with a male buddy.

The video captures a man, attired in a white t-shirt adorned with black stripes and black trousers, taking the lead. Meanwhile, the woman, dressed in a pink top and white trousers, follows, carrying a grey-colored sweater. Upon reaching the destination, the man momentarily heads in the wrong direction before identifying the correct apartment.

The witnesses recounted a sharp thud accompanying the woman's fall, leading to the grim discovery of her lifeless body. In the aftermath, police investigations revealed the man unconscious with several stab wounds, raising concerns of potential foul play.



The man is currently identified as the primary suspect by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and efforts are underway to locate three other individuals believed to have been in contact with the woman before the unfortunate incident.

Before reaching the apartment, the duo was observed at a nightclub, briefly departing, and then returning in the early morning hours. Images from the scene exposed blood splatters in both the living room and bathroom.

The sorrowful event contributes to a disturbing trend of violence targeting women in Kenya. Femicide Count Kenya's data reveals that, in January 2024 alone, at least ten women lost their lives, adding to a grim total of 504 women who have fallen victim to such violence between 2019 and 2024.

This disconcerting pattern has sparked advocacy groups to call upon the government to officially declare femicide a national emergency and to implement more stringent laws aimed at addressing and preventing such acts of violence. As investigations into the most recent incident progress, authorities are strongly urged to prioritize the safety and safeguarding of all citizens, especially vulnerable groups such as women.
