A 70-year-old man stabbed his 24-year-old nephew to death with a kitchen knife in Tongonye village in Mwea East, Kirinyaga County, on Monday evening.

According to police, Patrick Gichobi is said to have arrived home in the evening only for a quarrel to ensue.

“The two got back home at around 5pm. They had gone on a drinking spree in the area,” family members, led by Margaret Waguama, said.

“He was found lying in a pool of blood. He died while undergoing treatment at Kerugoya Hospital.”

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the runaway suspect who fled the scene after stabbing his nephew.

“It is not the first time that the accused has attacked someone. He is fond of attacking people when drunk,” Peter Wanjohi said.
