The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested five suspects accused of stealing approximately Kes 900,000 and USD15,000 from a businessman in Nairobi’s South C area two weeks ago.
The distressed victim reported to the Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, recounting that he had parked his BMW X1 along Muhoho Road, opposite Rubis Petrol Station.
After briefly entering an auto parts shop, he returned to his vehicle to discover a smashed rear window and his bag, containing the money, missing.
Upon further investigation, the victim received notification of Kes 40,000 withdrawn from his KCB account and an additional Kes 40,000 from the DTB account at an ATM in Embakasi.
Assisted by the Operations Unit, detectives arrested the initial suspect, identified through nearby CCTV footage breaking into the victim’s vehicle.
