On Sunday, three people were taken into custody by Uasin Gishu County police in connection with the widespread theft of cell phones in the Elgon View neighborhood of Eldoret.
It is reported that the two suspects are not locals and have been working out of a residence they rented in Eldoret.
Allegations have been made against the suspects that they stole phones, rode off on a motorcycle, and sold the phones to a store owner in Eldoret town, who was also detained as a third suspect.
Uasin Gishu Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi announced a significant breakthrough, stating that an illegally owned firearm and 42 phones, suspected to be stolen, were recovered during the arrest, bringing a sense of relief to the victims.
