A middle-aged man was beaten to death by a crowd in the Matungu district of Kakamega County after being accused of stealing two motorcycles.
The mob descended on him after finding two motorbikes hidden in his home.
Justus Okwero Oduori, leader of the regional boda boda association, lamented the increasing number of motorbike thefts in the town.

Oduori said, "The two stolen motorbikes were found hidden inside the suspect's house."
“It was then that angry residents dragged the suspect from his house and frog-matched him all the way to Ogalo Shopping Centre,” said Oduori – adding that the suspect was beaten to death by the mob.
The corpse was later recovered by police and sent to the mortuary.
Residents and boda boda operators in the region have requested that police increase security in the town.
