Police officers have arrested a 25-year-old Tom Mboya University student in connection with the death of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Faith Musembi, in Thika.
David Kioko was caught after preliminary investigations revealed that he killed Faith over alleged adultery. Both the suspect and the victim are from Machakos County.
The murdered first-year student at Mt. Kenya University was eight months pregnant when she died, and her corpse was discovered by her father last week in her rented apartment in Pilot Estate, Thika.
Thika Police Chief Lawrence Muchangi confirmed the arrest, noting that the subject is being kept for questioning.
"We have the main suspect in custody and are conducting thorough investigations. The DCIO is on that matter and the suspect will be produced in court soon," said Muchangi.
The terrible revelation has stunned the family, with panicked pleas for immediate justice reverberating throughout Machakos, Thika, and beyond.
Faith's parents, heartbroken by the death of their daughter and unborn grandson, are demanding justice.
"We want the authorities to ensure that the person responsible for this heinous act is punished to the fullest extent of the law," said Musembi's father, Boniface Musembi.
An examination at the Thika General Kago Funeral Home, where the girl's body is lying, revealed that she died as a result of heavy bleeding.
According to the study, she suffered from uterine hemorrhage caused by an abruption of the placenta.
