Police have arrested a 40-year-old man suspected of defiling a 12-year-old girl in the Adugo sub-location of Nyatike County.
According to Adugo sub-location Assistant Chief Samora Michel, the suspect is detained at the Karungu police station pending further investigation and court proceedings.
He claimed the suspect, who inherited the victim's mother, defiled the girl while she (mother) was away.
Samora stated that the matter is being investigated by various authorities to ensure the man is charged in court.

The official also expressed concern about rising cases of heresy in the region and stated that legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
Nyatike sub-county police commander Dorothy Migarusha told Citizen Digital that the case is being investigated and the suspect will be charged in court.
She has promised justice for the girl.
