Police in Mombasa are pursuing a man accused of stabbing his 25-year-old daughter following a fight over a solar lamp on Saturday evening.

According to a police report from Changamwe Police Station, Simon Mumbi fatally stabbed Diana Yambu in the chest before fleeing the scene.

“Scene visited, body with a visible deep stab wound photographed and removed to the coast general hospital mortuary for preservation pending postmortem.”

Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) found a blood-stained kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon.

This comes after a man was stabbed to death in a fight over a woman in Kochogo village, Nyando Sub County.

The victim, identified as Otieno, died from his injuries shortly after his admission to the hospital.

"The 24-year-old was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital ( JOOTRH) where he died,"  the Area Chief Alfred Ondola stated that the two had a heated argument about a lady.

"The assailant then drew a knife and stabbed the deceased in the stomach," Ondola added.

The perpetrator left the scene, leaving the victim lying in a pool of blood.

Police are on the hunt for the suspect who fled the scene of the crime after the stabbing.
