Congregants of a local church in Siaya County are in shock after finding human waste on the statue of Jesus in the church.
Cleti Kimaiyo, Siaya County police chief, stated the incident occurred at St. Andrew's Bondo Catholic Church.
“The heinous act was reported at Bondo police station by the parish priest, Rev. Father Edwin Obudho,” Kimaiyo said.

Kimaiyo stated that other reports indicate that the statue, which had been on the church altar, had gone stolen.
“Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was established that a stranger who was dressed in a black and white striped shirt and black trousers entered the church hall when a few congregants were deep in prayer,” Kimaiyo added.
The suspect then claims to have moved to the top gallery, where he concealed the statue. He would next descend to the altar, where he selected the statue.
“He then defecated on the statue before exiting the church. He hid the defaced statue underneath the pews,” police noted.
Attempts to locate the culprit are underway.
