A 30-year-old suspected terrorist has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by a Busia court.

Jackton Jacob Kanoti, alias Abdul Hakim, was detained in Siaya for links to both Al Shabaab and the Islamic State of Iraq.

"At the time of his arrest, Jackton was found with incriminating materials related to terrorist acts, as well as a mobile phone through which he accessed terrorism-related information via videos and chats from various telegram groups," the DCI stated.

The Busia court ruled that the evidence presented before the bench demonstrated that Kanoti was guilty of the allegations against him.

"The court established beyond reasonable doubt that the evidence adduced by the prosecution was credible and consistent for conviction, thus sentencing the accused person to 30 years in prison," the DCI said.
