Abdi Tepo, the former Member of Parliament for Isiolo South, is facing serious criminal charges. Tepo pleaded not guilty to having forged bank notes.

The prosecution revealed that Tepo had 300 pieces of paper resembling the special paper used to make Euro currency notes. Additionally, he faces charges of possessing ammunition and a firearm without proper certification.

Tepo was released on a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 and one contact person. The case is scheduled for a pretrial mention on August 12, 2024.

Tepo and his wife, Halima Gura Roka, were apprehended by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on July 25, 2024. The EACC was investigating fraudulent payments totaling Ksh.199 million made to Beirut Pharmacy and Medical Centre in Eastleigh by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) between 2021 and 2023 when they arrested the couple.

As part of their investigation, the EACC searched the residences of Beirut directors Yussuf Maalim Haret, Mohamed Bare Abdille, Virginia Nduku Ngemu, Ubah Hussein Abdi, and Beirut Hospital Administrator Oscar Mburu Murigi.

When EACC detectives arrived at Tepo's residence, he reportedly cocked and readied his Ceska handgun but eventually allowed the officers access to his home.
