Two suspects involved in violent robberies across Mombasa and Mariakani have been apprehended.

Harun Kariuki, 33, and his 20-year-old accomplice, Christine Nyakio, were arrested in Samburu town on Thursday. Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mariakani, alongside local police, carried out the arrests.

According to a statement released by the DCI on X (formerly Twitter), the suspects are believed to be the masterminds behind several violent heists in the Mombasa and Mariakani regions. These include a robbery that led to a fatal incident on July 18, 2024, as well as another abduction and robbery on July 24, 2024, and a shooting incident on July 17, 2024.

After an intense pursuit, law enforcement officers successfully tracked down and captured the suspects at their hideout in Samburu township.

Upon searching the location, police recovered various stolen items, including two generators and nine mobile phones. Additionally, the officers found a collection of other stolen goods, such as three hard disks, a 24-inch Aucma TV, a laptop, a laminated motorcycle registration number plate (KMGB 786D), and a helmet with the registration number KMFX 866Q.

The suspects are currently in police custody and awaiting arraignment. The recovered items have been documented and will serve as crucial evidence.
