A family in Busia County wants police to launch an investigation into a suspicious fire that left them homeless.
Felix Onyango Okello, 22, and his family narrowly escaped death after their house was set on fire. Okello and his family, who are now homeless, have requested that the government take action.
"Our house in Mwaku village in Marachi East Ward was set on fire by an unknown person," a distressed Okello explained.

He noted that his family is still adjusting, even as they evaluate their losses.
“We lost everything we had. We have nothing left as all our property was reduced to ashes,” he added.
Preliminary inquiries, however, indicate that the family is involved in a land dispute. The family is now living in fear as they do not know whether the case was an arson and if the perpetrators will strike again.
