Florida police arrested a driver accused of brandishing a firearm during a tense road rage incident, which seems to have been caught on video.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department released footage Thursday showing a driver stepping out of a Mercedes-Benz and approaching a couple in a pickup truck, holding a gun. The man, identified by police as 63-year-old Paul Slane, appears to point the weapon at the two individuals while repeatedly reaching into their vehicle.

According to authorities, Slane was demanding the cell phone of the woman who recorded the incident. Police also allege that he struck both the driver and the passenger during the altercation.

The incident reportedly took place Wednesday afternoon around 4:30 PM, when Slane allegedly drove his black Mercedes aggressively around the victims' truck while brandishing a handgun. He then stopped in front of them, blocking the roadway. The video appears to capture what happened immediately after.

Police say Slane fled the scene but was later apprehended by St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies. He was arrested on charges including two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of attempted armed robbery, and two counts of simple battery.

Authorities recovered the handgun involved, and Slane is currently being held in the St. Lucie County Jail without bond. Notably, the shaky video shows the driver of the pickup truck holding his own handgun in his lap, suggesting the situation could have escalated even further.
